Quorum sensing is the regulation of gene expression in response to in cell- density. Quorum sensing bacteria produce, and release chemical signal molecules called autoinducers. Bacteria use quorum sensing communication circuits to regulate a diverse array of physiological activities such as virulence, competence, motility, sporulation, and biofilm formation. QS inhibiting agents can cut off QS cell communication and would be a promising approach to control bacterial infections.
