Opening the door for submissions to the “Al Hassan Prize for Cancer Research”

The King Hussein Award for Cancer Research was launched in 2020, to enhance cancer research efforts in the Arab world, and in memory of His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, who has always believed in the importance of cancer research; The award will honor distinguished Arab researchers in the research field, whether they are researchers with long experience, or promising researchers. The award aims to raise the level of Arab research and develop it, in order to understand the characteristics of cancer in our region, and to study Arab genes specifically, so that we can confront and defeat cancer in advanced scientific ways.

Therefore, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation announced the opening of the door for submissions for the “Al-Hassan Award for Cancer Research,”   which aims to raise the level of Arab research in the field of cancer and includes the following areas of the award:

  •  Lifetime Achievement Award
  • It is possible to apply for the Lifetime Achievement Award by submitting an application on behalf of the candidate, or by submitting an application for himself.

    Submission of the application for this award takes place in two stages:

    The first stage:

    Purification:

    A qualified candidate shall submit the application on behalf of the candidate, provided that the application shall include the following contents:

    • Curriculum vitae of the individual nominee (the applicant).
    • The candidate's curriculum vitae.
    • Recommendation letter from the candidate (the applicant).

     Self-presentation:

    An eligible candidate is required to submit the following contents:

    • Candidate's CV .
    • Candidate's personal statement .

    Upon completion of the first stage of nomination, the qualified candidate will be notified and asked to complete the application steps in the second stage by submitting an application containing the following contents: 

    • Curriculum Vitae .
    • Personal statement.
    • Two books of credit.
    • The total number of published research, the " H " index and the number of citations according to the "SCOPS" database.
    • Percentage of research in which the applicant is the principal  , second, or last researcher .
    • Patents (including those in progress).
    • Any other professional or academic achievements (non-research) and/or awards.
    • Top ten papers (original paper, where the applicant is the principal, second, or last investigator   (whether  in  basic research, interventional studies, and/or clinical studies).  

Emerging Researcher Award

Those wishing to apply for the Distinguished Research Project Award must submit an application that includes the following contents

  • Biography of the applicant.
  •   Index link ( H and " Scopus  " citations ).
  • Link to " Scopus  magazine  to view all publications.
  • A personal summary showing professional achievement, focusing on research achievements
  • Patents (if any).
  • A letter of credit signed by the foundation’s leadership addressed to the King Hussein Prize Evaluation Committee
  • Top ten published papers (original paper, where the applicant is the principal investigator or co-researcher)  

 Distinguished Clinical Program Award

  • Those wishing to apply for the Distinguished Clinical Program Award must submit an application that includes the following contents:

    •  Basic information about the program  .
    • Credits (if any for the program itself, if not, for the program hosting institution).
    • Quality KPIs: Mechanism of Action and Results Indicators.
    • Overview of major research projects, results, and achievements.
    • The number of published research projects and active clinical studies (currently underway) in the field of cancer annually (during the last five years).
    • Number of research projects in the field of oncology funded by the Foundation and by external institutions (during the last five years). 
  • Promising Researcher Scholarship
  • The Promising Researcher Scholarship is applied for in two phases:

    • The first stage : Submission of the initial application and it must include the following contents:
      • A letter containing the research objectives and an overview of the proposed research project addressed to the King Hussein Prize Evaluation Committee.
      • Biography of the applicant.
      • The applicant's contact information.
    • Second Stage : Selected applicants who are eligible for the second round of assessment are required to submit the following documents:
      • Detailed research proposal.
      • Details about the parties involved in the proposed project and the funding.
      • Research team information.
      • c.v.
      • Integrated information about the project and its schedule
